History

Theologos is a charming seaside village located in a cove along the coast of the Gulf of Opountia and serves as the port for Malesina. It belongs to the Municipality of Lokron and is built on the site of the ancient city of Ales’ port, dating back to the 6th century BC. It was founded by a few families of Malesina in 1923 who moved to its beach.

Its name comes from the small chapel of Agios Ioannis the Theologian, and it has a long history. Nearby lie the ruins of the ancient city of Ales, mostly submerged along the beach and in the sea, including residences and tombs, which indicate that earthquakes caused its destruction.
